Position: Seasonal Admission Reader (Part-Time, Temporary) Overview Seasonal Admission Reader (Part-Time, Temporary) — Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas. Southwestern University provides a pay range and states that actual pay will be based on skills and experience. The base pay range is $20.00/hr. Position Details Seasonal Admission Reader (Part-Time, Temporary) reports to the Assistant Vice President of Admission. The reader conducts holistic evaluations of first-year undergraduate applications, reviewing academic records, essays, recommendations, and other materials. This is a part-time, temporary, non-exempt, remote position for an applicant who resides within the state of Texas and will work up to 30 hours per week. The reader participates in remote training and maintains regular communication with the admissions team to ensure consistent, fair, and thorough application reviews. All applications are read online, and the incumbent must have a reliable computer with access to reading systems, online meeting systems, and high-speed internet connection. Essential Duties • Holistically review first-year undergraduate applications, including transcripts, personal essays, recommendation letters, and other application materials. • Evaluate each applicant's academic, personal, and extracurricular credentials within the context of a selective admissions process. • Serve as the initial reader for assigned applications, providing detailed, objective, and well-documented evaluative notes. • Participate in remote training sessions led by the Assistant Vice President of Admission to ensure consistent and fair evaluation practices. • Complete scholarship review process while reviewing candidates for admission. Additional Duties • Maintain regular communication with the admissions team, attend weekly check-ins, and incorporate feedback to enhance review quality. • Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor's degree • Well-developed computer skills and the ability to adapt to new technology are critical • Strong time management skills • Strong attention to detail and the ability to exercise sound judgment • Possess keen analytical skills and concise writing ability • Willingness to accept feedback and quickly adapt to suggested modifications • Ability to maintain the strictest levels of discretion and confidentiality • Ability to read for long periods of time from a computer screen Preferred Qualifications • Previous experience in selective college admission Eligibility Restrictions To avoid conflicts of interest, candidates currently working directly with high school students in the following roles will not be considered: high school college counselors; independent educational consultants; college admission professionals actively employed elsewhere. Compensation & How to Apply Starting hourly rate: $20.00/hr the final offer will be commensurate with experience and may exceed the starting rate.
