In the United States, we have a flexible hybrid work policy for employees who live within 30 miles of our office headquartered in New York City and our office in Seattle. Employees within the New York and Seattle metropolitan areas are expected to work from the designated office twice a week, unless there is a job-specific requirement to be in the office every workday. Employees outside of these areas are considered part of our remote-first workforce. We believe our hybrid approach for those near our NYC and Seattle offices increases productivity through more in-person collaboration where possible. The Department: Risk At Gemini, our Risk function plays a critical role in proactively identifying, assessing, responding to, and communicating Gemini’s exposure, both internally and externally. Gemini is building a robust second line of defense in a first-of-its kind industry; our goal: safeguard Gemini and our users so that we can continue to empower the individual through crypto. The Role: Manager, Risk Governance and Oversight As a part of the Enterprise Risk Management team, the individual will serve as a subject matter expert for the Policy Governance Program, overseeing its day-to-day operations and driving its development, enhancement, and growth. With high visibility, the position will lead the creation of new and improved program processes and disseminate program insights to associates across all organizational levels, including executive stakeholders. Responsibilities: • Oversee management of policy and procedure inventory and approvals, committee management reporting, and regulatory deliverables. • Establish and enforce policy governance standards through a governance policy, ensuring alignment across all policy owners. • Responsible for establishing and maintaining policies and procedures, including version control, review by advisors/subject matter experts, and approval processes. • Along with being responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, they will also drive program development, improvement, and expansion, including establishing structures to align risks with policies and processes. • Work with Enterprise Risk Management Manager and Head of Risk to develop agenda items and escalations for board and internal management committee meetings, while also preparing concise summaries, reports, and metrics for various stakeholders including management, auditors, regulators, and executive leadership. • Manage committee governance activities, including drafting risk reporting guidance and preparing materials for review. • Identify the need for any new policies or procedures, develop routines to ensure compliance with them. • Participate, as needed, in regulatory requests, examinations, customer and internal audits, and provide required reports and documentation. • Provide effective communication with all levels of the organization will be essential, given the high visibility of this role. • Create, maintain, and implement a company-wide Risk Management Training program. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, or a related field. • 5-8 years experience in communications, policy management, legal field, project management or governance roles. • Policy governance experience in Fintech, Banking, payments or related field. • Experience in communicating with senior levels of management in a regulated environment. • Knowledge of the broader financial markets. • The ability to liaise with key stakeholders. • Experience working with risk management, including issue management, risk assessment, audit response, control testing, product policy review, or compliance. Preferred Qualifications: • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in legal or policy writing, including drafting and reviewing policies, procedures, and regulatory documents, to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance. • 2+ years of Project Management experience. • Experience in effectively communicating and engaging with regulatory agencies, encompassing exam management and other regulatory affairs activities. • Experience in creating training materials. It Pays to Work Here The compensation & benefits package for this role includes: • Competitive starting salary • A discretionary annual bonus • Long-term incentive in the form of a new hire equity grant • Comprehensive health plans • 401K with company matching • Paid Parental Leave • Flexible time off Salary Range: The base salary range for this role is between $137,000 - $172,000 in the State of New York, the State of California and the State of Washington. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
