About the Role: Engineer - Big Data We're seeking a skilled Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic product engineering and delivery team. Reporting to a Engineering Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in developing scalable, innovative solutions that transform our business. Key Responsibilities Software Development: Contribute to programming works through consistent development practices, including coding, code reviews, and automated testing. Troubleshoot and optimize software components across various environments. Automation & Scalability: Automate solutions in test or production environments and scale applications based on demand projections, ensuring seamless and efficient operation. Leadership: Lead a small team of engineers, influencing them with innovative ideas and risk-taking approaches to achieve their full potential. Technical Innovation: Identify opportunities to adopt new technologies and embody a "rebel with a cause" mindset by continuously seeking improvement opportunities. Collaboration & Quality: Drive client story analysis, design, development, testing, and build automation tools as a core member of an Agile team. Ensure high-quality code structure through refactoring and continuous improvement practices. Essential Qualifications & Skills To succeed in this role, you should have: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or a Master's in Computer Applications or equivalent. 3+ years of experience in software development and leading teams of engineers and Scrum teams. Strong background in programming using Core Java or Python/Scala, with a focus on data-intensive applications. Experience with Guide Reduce, Hive, Spark (Core, SQL, and PySpark), and distributed environments. Strong understanding of Data Warehousing concepts and experience with financial reporting environments. Proficiency in UNIX shell scripting and the ability to design and develop advanced data pipelines. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to document technical and functional specifications. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of cloud platforms like GCP/AWS, experience with building Microservices and scalable solutions. Experience with designing and building solutions using Kafka streams or queues. Familiarity with GitHub/Bitbucket and CI/CD pipelines. Experience with NoSQL databases such as HBase, Couchbase, or MongoDB. Outstanding technical and analytical fitness, coupled with great interpersonal and task management abilities.
